As a working, investment professional, Jim learned years ago that information from the media is too biased and inaccurate to be used when you need to make serious decisions. Unfortunately, much of our information comes from the media. So he began to use what has developed into a seven-step, critical thinking process, which enables him to separate out good information from bad information. His presentation, “Help. The News Is Driving Me Crazy!” explains and illustrates the critical thinking process and how this process helps develop the reasoned information one can use to make better, smarter decisions.
Jim’s presentations on the economy resulted from his Austrian School of Economics perspective. This analysis sees fiscal and monetary policy as the primary cause of business cycles. It looks at the economy from the perspective of the individual rather than mathematical models. It is focused on deductive logic and cause and effect rather than simple correlations.
Jim's presentations are not lectures; they are spontaneous discussions and full of audience participation. They are also very informative and packed with actionable information. They will cause audiences to think, to ask questions and talk to the people around them.
