After my first year of making all-pro in the National Football League as a tight end I knew that in order to be great I needed to work on my blocking, something that was foreign to me and something I did not particularly enjoy doing. Along comes Bud Grant a hall of fame coach. Bud watched me spend countless hours after practice working on my weakness, blocking. Bud's simple message about using my strength, running and catching would be needed to help the team win the Super Bowl. My weakness, blocking could be managed, not ignored.

What I have learned about using my strengths and managing my weakness manifested into four successful restaurants with over three hundred employees. This management strategy properly placed leaves a permanent mark on the lives of those who have worked with us and those who have returned looking for a refresher course.

Most successful companies now employee the servant attitude from the bottom up. Profit margins are shrinking and competition is fierce. I had no idea how using my strengths all the time made me a better teammate and my production soared.
