After being adopted from a military base in Champaign, Illinois Ron was raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. At the age of 7 Ron became a Jackie Robinson fan as a result of stories told by his father, a Brooklyn Dodgers fan who held deep admiration for Robinson. Ronnie first met his hero at a Milwaukee Braves/Brooklyn Dodger game in 1952. Jackie and Ron maintained a one-on-one close relationship for more than twenty years.

As a teenager, Ron worked in the 1960 Wisconsin presidential primary, reporting directly to John F. Kennedy. This astonishing relationship further equipped Ron with determination, passion and expertise for sharing his message of opportunity. President Kennedy later appointed Ron's father, David Rabinovitz a federal judge.

Adults nationwide have been mesmerized by Ron's' heartfelt story of friendship, sportsmanship and hardship. Ron also shares his amazing tale with school age children where he encourages them to search for and reach out to positive role models, and to believe that anything is possible. For more than 20 years the national media has recognized Ron's story including: USA Today, The CBS Evening News, The Chicago Sun Times, ESPN and National Public Radio just to name a few. In 2008 Ron was invited to speak at the Baseball Hall of Fame to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day and the 61st anniversary of Jackie breaking the color line in major league baseball.
