Award winning motivational speaker, author and internationally known expert on the benefits of humor and laughter, Karyn Buxman, RN, MSN, CSP, CPAE works with people who want to decrease their stress, balance their lives and improve their health through humor and laughter. Combining her skills as a health professional and humorist, she has helped thousands from coast to coast and abroad find humor in the midst of chaos and discover the stress reducing benefits that are gained from the everyday use of humor and laughter.

Karyn is president of HUMORx, a humor based stress management and communications company and is an active member of the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor, International Society of Humor Studies, National Speakers Association and co-founder of The World Laughter Tour.  She educates audiences on the physiological, psychological and social benefits of humor and laughter and entertains them with real life stories that they can relate to and has been called the “catalyst to happiness through laughter”!

Karyn’s expertise has been utilized in national media such as ABCNews.com, Advance for Nurses, Fit, Life@Work, Marie Claire, Personal Excellence, Shape and Woman’s World magazines. She has appeared as special guest expert on “Iyanla" and "On Main Street" in addition to numerous radio programs.  She is a contributing author of Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul, Give Stress A Rest, Humor and Wellness in Clinical Intervention and newly released, Chicken Soup for the Christian Woman's Soul.  Karyn co-edited Nursing Perspectives on Humor. She is author/publisher of This Won't Hurt A Bit! And Other Fractured Truths in Healthcare, The Humor Habit; Tips to Jest for Success and is working on her newest book, currently titled: Laughing Your Way to More Money, Better Sex and Thinner Thighs; Humor as Life Strategy.

Karyn received her Bachelors Degree from the University of New York and her Masters Degree from the University of Missouri.  She has twelve plus years of research in the field of therapeutic humor.  She has earned the Certified Speaking Professional designation, fewer than 8% of the National Speaker’s Associations 3,800 members hold this designation and in 2001 she was awarded admission into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame; One of only 23 women in the world to receive this honor!
